Mini-Grants


Mini Grants                   $ 50,000
The Mini Grant Program is a user-friendly mechanism developed to fund small one-time projects promoting optimal childhood development in Madera County. Mini grant applications are accepted quarterly in the following categories:

     Category 1: One-Time Only Funds ($30,000)

     Mini grants not to exceed $5,000 for one-time interventions for children,      families and/or service providers.
 
     Category 2: Quality Care for Children Funds ($12,000)
     Mini grants not to exceed $500 for licensed in-home child care providers for      the purchase of equipment and/or materials to enhance their home child      care centers.

     Category 3: Growing Family Library ($8,000 total)
     Funds designed to offer Mini-Grants directly to families in the form of $50.00      coupons to be used at a family book fair following a brief workshop on the      "how to" of engaging their children in literacy experineces at home. This fair      would mimic the child care fair in that vendors will be pre-selected to sell      age-appropriate literacy materials as approved by First 5. Mini-Grants under      this category are not to exceed $50.00 and will be issued in the form of      coupons for use at the designated fair.
